Laguna

The drawing rests on a single module repeated until it disappears. Shadow gaps are calibrated to a tenth of a millimetre, so the eye stops reading doors and reads a surface instead.

The island takes a worktop reduced to twenty millimetres, set on a recessed plinth. The mass appears to float — an effect obtained by mitring the worktop, cut and closed by hand in the Marche workshop.

Laguna suits large open volumes where the kitchen continues the living space. Tall units close behind pocket doors, returning the silence of a solid wall once the evening comes.
